Version 0.7
A Painted Ocean » Devlog
This verson contains various small interface and graphics changes, and some new features:
- Your position is automatically saved when you quit the game, and you can resume your voyage from the main menu.
- The map now shows your approximate position based on dead reckoning and, if the weather is clear enough, celestial observations (lunars for longitude, sort of).
- You can take down your topgallant masts in heavy weather.
- You can switch between different national flags.

Hey there,
I recently discovered this beautiful gem. It's so rare to see a fellow game-dev who is also presumably a Aubrey-Maturin fan and a history/ship fan. I love how you've made actual historical ship handling methods a fun game-mechanic.
Your approach of keeping the visuals quite simple is also very smart, It's all to easy to get lost in the woods regarding this.
This has some elements of being my dream game (essentially a more realistic and historical Sid Meier's Pirates).
From what I understand, development has somewhat ceased. However, if you are ever inclined to pick up development again and are in need of a 2d/3d artist. Please do not hesitate to contact me:

I'd love to discuss what your influences where and what other games you like to play.
Good luck,
Coen
Thanks!
I'm fairly happy with the state the game is in now, but maybe some day I will come back to it.
Hey! i'm happy you didn't abandon the game!
